There are eastern chipmunks and numerous snake species, including canebrake rattlesnakes and copperheads. At least 20 species of plants classified as rare in Louisiana are found on this area; two of these species have not been found anywhere else in the state. This is also where you will see the biggest ravines and even cross a "knife edge" where there are drop-offs on either side of a narrow trail.
